When should I start prenatal yoga?
+
The best time to start with our group prenatal yoga is at 12 weeks after the first trimester scan so we
know the position of the placenta. You can start with the breathwork classes sooner to help you
manage morning sickness and fatigue in the first trimester.
What can I start in Trimester 1?
+
You can start with the breathwork classes in trimester 1 till we have a visual on your placental
position in the 11th-week scan.
Can yoga help position my baby for birth?
+
Yes, yoga can be beneficial in helping position your baby for birth. Certain yoga poses and
movements can help create more space in the pelvis, encourage optimal fetal positioning, and
support the baby's descent into the birth canal. Additionally, yoga can help improve pelvic
flexibility and strength, which can aid in the baby's ability to move and rotate during labor.
While yoga can support physical and mental preparation for labor, it's important to remember that
no specific practice guarantees a vaginal birth. The outcome of childbirth depends on various
factors. Yoga can contribute to better preparation, strength, flexibility, relaxation, and stress
management, potentially enhancing the labor experience.
Will yoga guarantee normal delivery?
+
Yes, yoga can be helpful in relieving sciatica pain. Many yoga poses focus on stretching and
strengthening the muscles and structures around the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back
down to the legs. Yoga poses that target the hips, lower back, and hamstrings can help alleviate
tension and compression on the sciatic nerve, reducing sciatica symptoms.

Lamaze focuses on childbirth education, empowering women to make informed decisions during
labor and breastfeeding. Lamaze focuses on pain management for labor & birth. It is ideally
attended with your birth partner. Prenatal yoga promotes strength, flexibility, and emotional
connection with the baby. Both approaches can complement each other in supporting expectant
mothers throughout their pregnancy journey.
How is Lamaze different from Yoga?
+
"I started with classes at Birth Basix in my first trimester. I had bleeding and a low-lying placenta.
We started with the Breathwork Classes. As my pregnancy progressed the placenta moved away
from the cervix and I resumed exercise in the Prenatal Physio Classes. My husband and I attended
the Lamaze Classes too. We felt so supported through this journey. The team at Birth Basix worked
with my doctor to ensure a pain-free stress-free pregnancy" - Shruthi and Vijay.
Can I exercise with a low lying placenta?
+
A Low-lying placenta increases the risk of bleeding due to excessive pressure on the pelvic floor. As
a specialized physical therapy practice for pregnancy care, we provide expert guidance to navigate
high-risk pregnancies, keeping mothers flexible and comfortable even during periods of relative
rest. Join our breathwork classes to learn proper breathing mechanics, toileting habits, and
movement patterns that alleviate pelvic floor pressure. Our focus on meditation and affirmations
enhances a positive journey for expecting mothers.
When can we start postnatal classes?
+
For the first 6 weeks, we give you Physio exercises based on your birth process. At 6 weeks we
assess your body and identify areas that need support- such as diastasis, incontinence, and prolapse.
You can start the Postnatal PhysioYoga at 6 weeks and continue till you feel strong and ready to
graduate to normal workouts.
